Six Sias students from China at FHSU
09/12/2001

HAYS, KS -- Six undergraduate students from Sias University of Business and Management, located in Xinzheng City, Henan Province, People's Republic of China, are currently living on Fort Hays State University's campus and attending classes.

Sias University, now in its third year of existence, is a unique institution. It is the only privately owned, English-language university in China. Its founder, Dr. Shawn Chen, is a native of China and a naturalized U.S. citizen.

He sought out the partnership with Fort Hays State because Sias University needed more English-speaking professors to achieve his goal of preparing his students for jobs with multinational corporations.

This partnership was successfully established and has been running now for over a year. The arrangement, which allows Sias students to earn a degree from FHSU via Virtual College courses, also allows for exchange students.

The following Sias students are currently on campus: Sun "Amy" Lin, Yi Le "Peter" Ye, Xin "Irene" Xiao, Kun "Sandy" Wang, Bo "Tom" Dong and Jingxi "Owen" Zhang.
