HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University's Special Events Committee has announced that it was among a select group of Midwest presenters chosen to receive a Heartland Arts Fund grant.
The Heartland Arts Fund, a joint venture of Arts Midwest and the Mid-America Arts Alliance, seeks to introduce professional artists to local audiences in a 15-state region across the Midwest.
The FHSU award will support a performance by Street Sounds, a musically rich quintet committed to performing songs that embody the rhythms and influence of African culture.
The group will be at the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center on Monday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m.
The Heartland Arts Fund received more than 512 applications for the 2000-2001 season, of which 347 received funding for a total of over $709,000 of funds designated.
