HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University's Sheryl Davis, assistant regional director of FHSU's Small Business Development Center, was selected for the Home-based Business Advocate of the Year Award for the State of Kansas by the U.S. Small Business Administration at a ceremony in May.
Davis is a certified public accountant and has worked as a consultant and trainer for the SBDC of FHSU for almost 13 years. She helps with record keeping, tax issues, valuation, business start-up, expansion, retailing and general management practices. Davis has consulted and trained hundreds of small business owners in her business management consultant position with the SBDC at FHSU.
"Davis is extremely dedicated to her clients, working evenings and weekends to accommodate their schedules. Her work has been recognized as outstanding by the SBA in state and federal site reviews, and her innovative ideas on working smarter rather than harder are given serious consideration by those who supervise the SBDC program," said Susan Bittel, regional director of the FHSU SBDC.
