Craven paintings to be featured in exhibition in Trinidad, CO

HAYS, KS -- Several large-scale acrylic paintings by Allen Craven, associate professor of art at Fort Hays State University, will be featured in an exhibition which opens June 25 at Leaping Lizard Gallery in Trinidad, CO.
The works reflect a broad spectrum of the artist's work both in style and subject matter. Craven will include some of his earliest non-objective paintings. In juxtaposition, his later expressionistic works focus on the human figure in various social settings. Included in this series is "Letting Go," a 70-inch-by-40-inch painting which conveys the dynamic energies of a guitarist performing for his audience.
Rounding out the exhibition are the artist's most recent paintings, which convey a much darker view of contemporary society. In the 30-inch-by-48-inch painting "Managerial Dynamics," mechanized marionette-like figures are manipulated by a puppeteer.
