HAYS, KS -- Five Fort Hays State University employees were recently awarded Classified Scholarships to attend class during the fall 2001 semester.
Classified Scholarships are awarded to help full-time or part-time permanent classified employees further their education. They are awarded funds to pay for one undergraduate class, though applicants may take graduate classes. This class may or may not be job related. Preference is not given.
Applicants must be admitted to the university and must not be receiving other specific types of financial aid. They also need to have been employed as a classified employee for at least one full year prior to the date the course begins, excluding temporary or emergency employees.
Alvin Hearne, who works in the Computing and Telecommunication Center, accepted his award and is enrolled in Topics in History. Wanda Hinton, who works in the Vice Provost's Office, accepted her award and is enrolled in Fundamentals of Oral Communication. Marnie Kohl, who works in Student Affairs, accepted her award and is enrolled in Office Communication.
David Rorabaugh, who works for the University Police, has accepted his award and is enrolled in Law of Cyberspace. Phillip Woodford, who also works for the University Police, has accepted his award and is enrolled in Beginning Spanish.
