HAYS, KS -- The Docking Institute announced today that it has received a total of $17,000 in business and institutional grants for its annual Telepower Conference set for Sept. 26 and 27, 2001, at Fort Hays State University.
The institute's 10th annual conference, Telepower 2001: e-Vision Your Future, is designed to inform local community leaders and show them how information technology and telecommunications can be used as tools for rural and community development.
Major underwriting sponsorships of $3,000 each were received from Southwestern Bell Telephone and the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation. Corporate level sponsorships of $1,500 were received from Rural Tel/Nex-Tech, Avaya Communications, Information Network of Kansas, Garden City Information Technology Cooperative, Kansas Small Business Development Corporation and the Kansas Association of Counties.
Supporting sponsorships were received from Sunflower Electric Power Corporation, WestLink Communication, UtiliCorp United, Kansas Department of Commerce and Housing, and Robert and Sheryl Cox.
The Docking Institute is a public policy research institute, supporting effective decision-making among governmental and non-profit leaders through survey research, economic impact analysis, public policy analysis, and strategic planning.
