FHSU celebration of National Nurses Week
05/17/2001

HAYS, KS -- "National Nurses week is an important time to appreciate nurses and the wonderful, caring support and services they provide to patients throughout the year," said Dr. Eileen Curl, director of graduate nursing studies at Fort Hays State University.

National Nurses Week was observed May 6-12 with a mayoral proclamation of national nurses week, a Kansas Nurses Association District 16 reception and a reception for nursing students at the FHSU nursing department.

National Nurses week is significant because of the birth of Florence Nightingale May 12, 1820. Nightingale is the founder of modern nursing and dedicated her life to taking care of the sick and of the war wounded.
