FHSU UAB attends conference, brings home awards

Nine members of Fort Hays State University´┐Żs University Activities Board recently attended the National Association for Campus Activities conference for the Heart of America Region in Wichita.

UAB was recognized for presenting the Best Series Program, The Gallery Series, and the Outstanding Program of the year, September Jam.

Sally Leatherman, Pawnee City, NE, senior, earned second place in the multicolor poster competition. William Elder, Bison senior, earned second place in the one-color poster competition.

UAB President Heather Ney, Hanston senior, was named the Outstanding Student Leader for the entire region.

Heart of America Region includes New Mexico, Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas. The students who attended the conference are listed below by hometowns.

BISON: Elder, art.
HANSTON: Heather Ney, communication senior; Holly Ney, business communication senior.
HAYS: Michelle Hertel, physical education junior; Mike Schlyer, technology studies sophomore.
IOLA: Lisa Tholen, biology senior.
MCPHERSON: Mindy Lies, management sophomore.
SALINA: Chris Allen, mathematics sophomore, 1411 E. Beloit.
TOPEKA: A.J. Boleski, marketing senior, 1200 SW Webster.
