HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University's Dr. John Heinrichs, assistant professor of geosciences, was elected vice president of the FHSU Faculty Senate on April 2, 2001. He will succeed Dr. Paul Adams.

Adams will serve as president of the FHSU Faculty Senate during the coming academic year.

Heinrichs received his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 1996. He has been at FHSU since the fall of 1998.

Before coming to FHSU, Heinrichs was a research associate in environmental sciences at the Cooperative Institute for Research at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an instructor at Metropolitan State College in Denver.
