FHSU to honor Beloit area scholars

HAYS, KS --- High school students from Republic, Washington, Jewell, Mitchell, Cloud, Clay and Lincoln counties and Downs in Osborne County will be honored at a Fort Hays State University Student Recognition Program in Beloit at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 19. The program will be at Beloit High School, 1711 N. Walnut.

Students who have been offered academic scholarships to FHSU will receive a certificate, a lapel pin and a T-shirt at the ceremony. Honorees and their parents will have an opportunity to visit with university faculty and administrators.

Activities planned for the evening include an address by Dr. Hammond and a dessert buffet. The buffet is sponsored by alumni, friends of the university and area businesses.

Another highlight of the program will be a drawing for a $400 scholarship from Emprise Bank of Hays. The recipient must be present to win.

Emprise Bank representatives will be available to counsel students and parents on obtaining student loans to attend FHSU.

The program is sponsored by Emprise Bank and the FHSU Alumni Association. Names of local sponsors will be displayed at the program.
