Speakers Bureau now available on FHSU web site
02/09/2000

Thanks to a new page on the Fort Hays State University web site, people from across the region and state can call on FHSU faculty and staff to share their talents, expertise and motivation.

The Speakers Bureau is a service provided by FHSU to provide outside groups with a tool to find speakers for their events.

Speakers on the page are divided into the following categories: Athletic Banquets, Commencement, Public Issues Series, After Dinner, and Workshops/Clinics. They also are listed by topic on a separate page. Currently, 25 persons are listed on the site.

A description of each speaker is included on the pages. The descriptions give the speakers' full names, their positions at FHSU, office phone number and a list of topics they are willing and able to speak on.

Every year all FHSU faculty members and unclassified employees are invited to be on the list of available speakers. Only those who send back information are listed with the Speakers Bureau.

Suzanne Klaus, web site manager, has been in charge of the list for 16 years. Before doing the Internet site, she worked on the list while at University Relations.

"It makes a listing of speakers available in one place."

FHSU does not establish a fee for speakers or programs but the speaker or performer along with the individual or organization requesting the program can decide upon compensation.

Klaus said there is no way of knowing how many FHSU employees give speeches throughout the year.

"We don't make arrangements for them (the speakers), but we are more than willing to direct any questions or inquiries to the right person."

The Speakers Bureau is available at www.fhsu.edu/speaker/speaker.html. For further information contact Suzanne Klaus at 628-5520 or sklaus@fhsu.edu.
