HAYS, KS --- Fort Hays State University will present the 23rd annual Agricultural Outlook Conference in the Fort Hays Ballroom in the Memorial Union on Nov. 3.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. The conference begins at 9:00 a.m. when Alan Barkema, vice president and economist at the new Center for the Study of Rural America at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, will discuss the outlook of the economy and agriculture. Barkema will be succeeded by Joe Christopher, grain market analyst for RJ O'Brien and Associates, Greenwood Villages, CO, who will discuss the outlook for grain prices.
After a morning break with a continental breakfast, Dan Dhuyvetter, beef cow/calf nutritionist for Land O' Lakes Farmland Feed Company, will discuss the challenges and opportunities of beef production from ranch to retail.
After a prime rib luncheon, the afternoon will be devoted entirely to the outlook for the cattle situation presented by Andrew Gottschalk, senior vice president for RJ O'Brien and Associates and founding partner of www.HedgerEdge.com.
Materials, breakfast and lunch are included in the $35 per person cost. The deadline for conference reservations is Nov. 1.
