Shanahans to present paper in Hungary

HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University debate coach Dr. William "Bill" Shanahan, assistant professor of communication, and his wife Kim, English teacher and director of debate at Hays High School and FHSU graduate student, will present a paper at the International Debate and Education Association Conference in Budapest, Hungary, from Oct. 6-8.

"Debate and Argumentation: Opening Minds and Societies," the title of the three-day conference, will take place at Central European University in Budapest.

The Shanahans will participate in a panel discussion on Saturday, Oct. 7, titled "Debate, Nihilism and Hierachy," based on their paper titled "Debate Nihilism."

Simultaneous translation into Russian will take place during the panel discussion. English and Russian are the two official languages of the conference.
