HAYS, KS -- Fort Hays State University's University Activities Board will present its third annual September Jam on Saturday, Sept. 16.
To help kick off this year's events, a dance party will take place on Friday, Sept. 15. September Jelly will be from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at the Bijou, 507 W. Seventh, Hays. Only individuals 18 and over will be admitted.
The Urge, an alternative rock band from St. Louis, MO, will be headlining this year's events. Along with the headliner, five local bands will also take the stage from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., at the Hays Municipal Park, First and Main, Hays, KS.
Sharing the stage throughout the day is Sharkey's Little Groove Box (Manhattan), 8 Degrees (Topeka), O'Phil (Wichita), Ruskabank (Manhattan) and Pomeroy (Omaha, NE).
DJ Cameron Perry, from KFIX 96.9 and MIX 103.3, will emcee the event. KFIX will also be broadcasting live from September Jam 2000 between 5 and 7 p.m.
In addition to the bands, The White Chocolate Experience will host a skateboard demonstration on the old tennis courts at the Municipal Park. This event features many teams from across the state and will include a "best trick" competition.
Vendors will be on-site, selling refreshments, body art, T-shirts and numerous other items. No food or drink will be allowed into the event. A beer garden will be available for persons 21 or older.
Immediately following the concerts, Sip 'N Spin, 209 W. 10th, Hays, will host an official post party.
Tickets for September Jam 2000 are available at Cerv's Conoco, 2701 Vine St., MidWest Music, 807 Main St., the White Chocolate Experience 333 E. Eighth St., and the FHSU Student Service Center. Tickets are also available in Salina at the House of Sight and Sound and in Manhattan at Streetside Records.
September Jam 2000 is an event for all ages. Children 7 years of age and under will be admitted free of charge. Ticket prices for the general public are $10 in advance, and $12 at the door.
FHSU students can purchase tickets for $8 in advance; these tickets must be purchased at the Memorial Union Student Service Center in order to receive the discount.
September Jam 2000 is presented by the United States Army, KFIX 96.9, MIX 103.3, Sip 'N Spin, and the University Activities Board.
