HALO students to visit Garden City Community College

HAYS, KS -- Speaking with college students, visiting with high school students and walking in the Garden City Fiesta Parade will be the objective of a weekend adventure in Garden City for the Fort Hays State University Hispanic American Leadership Organization.

On Friday, Sept. 15, Sonia Esquivel, Garden City graduate student and HALO sponsor, and Louie Ochoa, Lawrence junior, will speak with Hispanic students at Garden City Community College in the morning followed by an afternoon of visiting with advanced placement Spanish students at Garden City High School.

A group of HALO students, including Esquivel, Ochoa, John Martinez, Garden City senior, Raul Duran, Garden City junior, and Allison Sosa, Hugoton junior, will then participate in the Fiesta Parade on Saturday, Sept. 16. Victor E. Tiger, FHSU's mascot, will be joining HALO members at the parade.
