Fort Hays State University's online Bachelor of Science in psychology program ranks as No. 3 most affordable in the nation on the GetEducated.com website in the organization's category of psychology degrees.
GetEducated's category, however, also includes human services, social work and social science degrees. Among psychology degrees specifically, said Dean of Arts and Sciences Paul Faber, FHSU's psychology degree is the most affordable at a listed total cost of $22,109.
"Congratulations to the Department of Psychology and all who make it possible for us to make a great education in psychology available to a wide variety of people," said Faber in announcing the ranking.
No. 1 on GetEducated's list is actually a social science degree and No. 2 is a degree in social work. The next psychology degree after FHSU's is a Bachelor of Professional Studies in industrial/organizational psychology at Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, which comes in at No. 8 with at a cost of $26,940 for Arkansas residents and $50,128 for non-residents. The next psychology degree is a B.A. in psychology from Columbia College, Columbia, Mo., at a cost of $28,800.
FHSU's Virtual College charges only one tuition rate for both resident and non-resident students.
According to GetEducated.com, a consumer group that ranks the most affordable online degrees in the nation, the rankings indicate that the online learning programs have been independently reviewed and found to offer credible, high-quality distance degrees at a cost well below the national average. The rankings are revisited every two or three years. GetEducated.com recently rated seven Fort Hays State University healthcare degrees in the top 10 in their categories, including three ranked No. 1.
FHSU, through its Virtual College, offers 27 bachelor's degree programs and 10 master's degrees completely online and three others that have a small on-campus component.
