HAYS, KS -- Registrations are still available for the 53rd annual High-Plains Band Camp scheduled from July 30 through Aug. 5 on the Fort Hays State University campus. The camp will feature John Climer, director of bands at Ohio University as guest conductor.
Several soloists will also be on hand for the camp. Those specialists include: Don Lefebre, saxophone, West Texas A&M University; Ernest Bastin, trumpet, and Alison Brown, flute, Ohio University; Erin Brewer, horn from Dallas; Jim Clark, trombone, and Edward Jones, tuba, East Texas A&M University.
Campers will experience an exciting and concentrated study of the art of music during the seven day camp. Each day includes approximately seven hours of musical study. Private lessons will be available with the guest soloists.
Recreational opportunities for campers will include swimming, bowling, tennis, softball, volleyball and two camp dances to be on Wednesday and Friday evenings. The cost of the camp is $300 which includes lodging and meals.
