Line Follower, Maze Madness, Speed Limit and Planting Time on Mars are just a few of the events scheduled for the sixth annual Western Kansas Lego Robotics Competition sponsored by the National Science Teachers Association, the Fort Hays State University Physics Club, and the Science and Mathematics Education Institute at Fort Hays State University on Friday, April 8.
The competition is open to all area fifth- and sixth-graders.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the Fort Hays Ballroom in the Memorial Union. Parking permits will be supplied to teachers at check-in. Competition begins at 10.
Each team will compete in at least one event and up to as many as they wish. A team may consist of one to five members. Multiple teams from each school are permitted. Teams will construct robots solely from parts found in a single standard Lego robot kit.
Awards will be given for first-, second- and third-place winners in each event. The trophy goes to the team that acquires the largest overall points total.
