"Religion in Public Life: The Collision of 'Freedom to' and Freedom From' " will be the topic in the next forum in the Civil Discussions of Controversial Issues series sponsored by Fort Hays State University's Department of Philosophy.
The forum is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Hays Public Library gallery.
Hays Mayor Kent Steward, who is also director of University Relations for FHSU, is the guest speaker. He will discuss the role of religion in contemporary public discourse.
As is usual at these quarterly gatherings, the first half of the meeting will be devoted to a presentation from the invited speaker. The second half is set aside for an open discussion in which everyone present is invited to participate.
