Sigma Chi fraternity makes video, debunks common misconceptions
06/14/2010

Fort Hays State University's Sigma Chi fraternity has created a promotional video to inform young men and their parents about the chapter. At the same time, the video works to debunk many myths and misconceptions that students and parents may have about a college fraternity.

Although the fraternity was founded in 1967, this is the first promotional video made for the chapter. Members say they think the video will increase membership numbers.

"I can see it bringing in a lot of new potential members," said chapter President Tyson Broyles, Douglass sophomore.

Sigma Chi incorporated current and past fraternity members' insights and interviews to show students the impact that a fraternity can have on them.

"The experience will stay with you your entire life," said member Ren Gilmore, Olathe junior.

The chapter plans to publish the video on YouTube and send it to incoming students who show an interest in Greek life.
