Dr. Chapman Rackaway, associate professor of political science at Fort Hays State University, has been added to the authorship team for the fifth edition of "American Government: Politics and Political Culture."
The book, co-authored by William Lyons and John M. Scheb II, is a basic textbook for introductory American government classes. It covers elements of preparing students to be active citizens and engaged voters. The book explores the writing of the Constitution, civil rights and liberties, the workings of the electoral system and the institutions of government.
"We try to show that there is relevance by using the theme of a connection between politics and pop culture," said Rackaway. "The students might not understand that the TV, music, movies and other entertainment they consume has a political connection."
