Human Behavior and the Social Environment students take trip to Norton's Valley Hope

Several Fort Hays State University students from Kendal Carswell's Human Behavior and the Social Environment class recently took a field trip to Valley Hope Substance Abuse Center in Norton.

The students took part in staff observations, a question-and-answer session with council members and interactions with patients. Participating students were Karla Martinez, Great Bend junior; Clara Collins, Mankato senior; Edith Murguia, Garden City senior; Mellissa Winter, Salina senior; Tamber Weber, Newton senior; Emily Stallbaumer, Frankfort senior; Ashley Perez, Hays senior; Vanessa Roybal, Montezuma senior; and Amanda Sowers, Healy senior.

"The students felt it was a great learning experience outside the classroom setting because they were able to experience concepts that they learned in the classroom," Carswell said.
