Several Fort Hays State University students from Kendal Carswell's Human Behavior and the Social Environment class recently took a field trip to Valley Hope Substance Abuse Center in Norton.
The students took part in staff observations, a question-and-answer session with council members and interactions with patients. Participating students were Karla Martinez, Great Bend junior; Clara Collins, Mankato senior; Edith Murguia, Garden City senior; Mellissa Winter, Salina senior; Tamber Weber, Newton senior; Emily Stallbaumer, Frankfort senior; Ashley Perez, Hays senior; Vanessa Roybal, Montezuma senior; and Amanda Sowers, Healy senior.
"The students felt it was a great learning experience outside the classroom setting because they were able to experience concepts that they learned in the classroom," Carswell said. |
