Students attend National Association for Gifted Children conference

Several Fort Hays State University students attended the National Association for Gifted Children's 56th annual convention and exhibition in St. Louis, Mo. Students who attended were Dustin Engel, Hays senior, Chelsea Wirtz, Ellinwood senior, Jana Ohman, Ingalls senior, Hannah Schletzbaum, Hays senior, and Mallory Lammers, Goodland, senior.

"It was a great experience to be around 2,500 educators," said Wirtz. "There were so many different workshops to attend. Each one gave different ways to work in your classroom. I was given many different Web sites that can help within my classroom and different contacts to work with."

The convention and exhibition included poster sessions, exhibits, committee meetings and networking events. The students attended several of the 60 hourly workshops available.

"I would recommend future trips to the convention because there is so much information available that you are bound to pick up something great," said Wirtz.
