Jessica Conner, a 2006 MFA graduate in ceramics at Fort Hays State University, is the new education program coordinator for the Lawrence Arts Center.
After studying about the Terracotta Army of Qin Shi Huang, the First Emperor of China, Conner traveled with Linda Ganstrom, professor of art, on Ganstrom's first trip to China and was the artist in residence at the Lawrence Arts Center after graduation from FHSU. The artist in residence is a year-long program that allows artisans to create and show their own art pieces.
"I will be in charge of maintaining the seven art studios, including keeping them clean and supplied for the teachers," Conner said. "I will also manage the ceramics studio including keeping it supplied as well as firing and unloading the kiln as needed."
