Phone lines will soon be buzzing at the Fort Hays State University Endowment Association call center.
Tiger Call 2005 will get under way Sunday, Oct. 16, when volunteers begin calling to raise money for the FHSU Scholarship Program. Tiger Call is a 27-year fundraising tradition that reaches out to the university's 32,000 alumni.
More than 500 volunteers will each spend an evening calling FHSU alumni. Representatives from university departments, clubs and student organizations will make this year's efforts successful.
"Without the alumni, faculty, students and staff members who volunteer to call, Tiger Call would not be possible," said Cathy Van Doren, director of annual giving. "We are fortunate to have the support of FHSU volunteers and the generosity of loyal alumni."
Tiger Call raised $429,663 in 2004.
Brenda Hoopingarner, chair of the Department of Allied Health, and Mark Bannister, chair of the Department of Information, Networking and Telecommunications, are the chairs of Tiger Call 2005.
