Slam poet coming to FHSU

Dana Gilmore, Kan. native and a star of the third and fourth seasons of HBO's "Def Poetry Jam," will perform at Fort Hays State University's Memorial Union on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

Gilmore has shared the stage with artists such as Mos Def, Kanye West, Anthony Hamilton and Smokey Robinson. Gilmore's poetic style is clear-cut and real. For her, all aspects of life can be interpreted through her poetry. Today, Gilmore spends  her time traveling across the nation performing while working on songs, stage plays and screenplays.

The performance is on Oct. 6, from 7:30 to 9 p.m., in the Memorial Union's Cody Commons area on the lower level. Admission is free for students, faculty and staff and $2 for the Hays public.
