New faculty welcomed to FHSU

Fort Hays State University has added several new full-time faculty for the 2009-2010 academic year.

 

Tania Alekson accepted a position in Forsyth Library as a full-time Learning Commons coordinator. She received a Bachelor of Arts in history and English from the University of British Columbia, Canada, in 1990, a graduate degree in communications from Concordia University, Montreal, in 2002 and a master's degree in library and information studies, British Columbia, in 2009. Alekson will begin her position Aug. 17.

 

Nathan Andrews accepted a position in the Office of Admissions as a full-time admissions counselor. He received a Bachelor of General Studies in business management and a certificate in leadership studies from FHSU in 2008. He also holds an associate degree in business from Barton County Community College, Great Bend. Andrews began his position June 14.

 

Dr. Reese E. Barrick accepted a full-time position as the director of Sternberg Museum of Natural History.  He received a bachelor's degree in biology and geology from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, in 1986.  He also received a master's degree in 1990 and

a Ph.D. in 1993, both in geological sciences from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.  Barrick began his position July 1. 

 

Dr. Jayne M. Brandel accepted a position in the Communication Disorders Department as a full-time instructor of communication disorders. She received a bachelor's degree in speech-language-hearing in 1997 and a master's degree in speech-language pathology in 1999, both from the University of Kansas. Brandel will begin her position Aug. 17.

 

Greg Bryant accepted a position as a full-time assistant football coach. He received his Associate of Science from Merced College, Merced, Calif., in 2003; a Bachelor of Science in physical education from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, in 2006; and a Master of Science degree in sports administration from FHSU in 2008. Bryant began his position on March 22.

 

Jeff Bryant accepted a position as a full-time assistant football coach. He received his Bachelor of Science in exercise and sport science from the University of Tulsa, Okla., in 2007.  Bryant began his position April 5.

Eric Deyo accepted a position in the Department of Physics as a full-time instructor of physics.  He received a bachelor's degree in physics from Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, Calif., in 2003; a master's degree in physics from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 2006; and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Washington in 2009. Deyo will begin his position Aug. 17.

 

Kathleen E. Dougherty accepted a position in the Office of Admissions as a full-time admissions couselor.  She received a Bachelor of Science in meterology in 2006 and a master's degree in professional meterology in 2008, both from the University of Oklahoma, Norman. Dougherty began her position part-time June 21. She will begin full-time Aug. 18.

 

Cole J. Engle accepted a position in the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting as a full time instructor of economics, finance and accounting.  He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in computer information systems and in accounting in 2007 and a Master of Business Administration in accounting in 2009, both from FHSU.  Engle will begin his position Aug 17. 

 

Lucas Haase accepted a position in the Office of Admissions as a full-time admissions counselor.  He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing from FHSU in 2009. Haase began his position June 14. 

 

Kurt N. Kohler accepted the position of head volleyball coach. He received his Bachelor of Science in exercise and sport science from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, in 1995 and his Master of Science in health from Emporia State University in 2004. Kohler began his position March 19.

 

Patricia Love accepted a position in the English Department as a full time instructor.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in humanities from Hiram College, Ohio, in 1996 and a Master in Arts in English from Cleveland State University, Ohio, in 1998.  Love will begin her position Aug. 17.

 

Jack Maseberg accepted a position in the Department of Physics as a full-time instructor. He received his Bachelor of Science in physics from FHSU in 2003 and a Ph.D. in physics from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, in 2009.  Maseberg will begin his position Aug. 17. 

 

Anita Mead accepted a position as a full-time administrative business specialist for the Kansas Small Business Development Center. She received her Associate Degree from Garden City Community College; a bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from Friends University; and a Master of Science in higher education administration from FHSU. Mead began her position on Jan. 15.

Dr. Santosh R. Mohanty accepted a position in the Department of Biological Sciences as a full-time assistant professor. He received his Bachelor of Science in microbiology from

Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, India; a Master of Science in microbiology in 2005 from Orrisa and a Ph.D. in life science in 2001 from Central Rice Research Institute, India. Mohanty will begin his position Aug. 17.

 

Kyle W. Nystrom accepted a position as a full-time assistant football coach and defensive coordinator. He received a Bachelor of Science in political science and criminal justice from Michigan State University, East Lansing, in 1988 and a master's degree in public administration from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, in 1990. Nystrom began his position June 1.

 

Andrea Patterson accepted a position as an instructor of English for the virtual college international.  She received her Bachelor of Arts in German studies and history from the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, in 2005 and a Master of Arts in teaching English to speakers of other languages from the West Virginia University, Morgantown, in 2008. Patterson will begin her position Aug. 17.

 

Leanna Roberts accepted a position in the Office of Admissions as a full-time admissions counselor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in communications with an emphasis in public relations from FHSU in 2009.  Roberts began her position on June 14.

 

Everett J. Royer accepted a full-time position as the assistant director of the virtual college.  He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1986; a master's degree in history in 1988 and his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting in 2009, all from FHSU.  Royer began his position June 14.  

 

Janet Stramel accepted a position in the Department of Teacher Education as a full-time instructor. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond, in 1985 and a Master of Science in curriculum instruction from Kansas State University in 2004. She is expecting a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from Kansas State in 2010. Stramel will begin her position Aug. 17.  

 

Curtis Jay Wolf accepted a full time position as manager of the Kansas Wetlands Education Center.  He received a Bachelor of Science in wildlife/fisheries biology in 2002 and a Master of Science in 2005, both from FHSU.  He began his position July 26.
