Finney County Golf Tournament to fund FHSU student scholarships

Scholarships for students in Finney County and the surrounding area will benefit from Fort Hays State University Finney County Tiger Golf Tournament and Barbecue, sponsored by the FHSU Alumni Association and the FHSU Foundation.

The Tournament will be Friday, May 29, at the Southwind Golf Club at 77 Grandview Drive, Garden City. Check in begins at 12:30 p.m. with the tournament starting at 1 p.m. Participants will compete in a four-person scramble and are invited to attend the barbecue immediately following the tournament.

The registration deadline is Friday, May 22. The cost is $70 for golfing and the meal. Registration includes green fees, shared cart, entry gift and prize giveaway. For non-golfers who just want to enjoy the meal, the cost is $15.

Hosts for this event are Josh Biera, class of '92; Jeff Clarke, class of '82; Allen Leiker, class of '73; and Lon Pishny, class of '71. Special FHSU guests will include Tim Chapman, president and CEO of the FHSU Foundation; Brad Botz, senior director of gift planning for the Foundation; and Kevin Verdugo, head FHSU football coach; Mark Johnson, head men's basketball coach; and Stacey Lang, assistant alumni director.
