Communication students and faculty participate in We Kan! Conference

Two faculty members and two students from Fort Hays State University's Department of Communication Studies participated in the We Kan! Conference for rural tourism on March 24 in Salina.

Andy Stanton, assistant professor of communication studies, presented two workshop sessions at the conference: "Embracing Technology: Using Web 2.0, Facebook, Twitter, Blogging to Promote Your Community" and "Powerpoint Tips and Tricks: How to Make Your Next Presentation Stick."

Marcella Marez, instructor of communication studies, presented one workshop session at the conference: "Making a Good Speech: Are Your Knees Knocking Just Thinking About Getting in Front of an Audience?"

Courtney Schoendaler, Grinnell senior, and Tiffany Lovelady, Palco senior, provided multimedia technical assistance for the Kansas Sampler Foundation. Schoendaler and Lovelady were responsible for videotaping and photographing segments of the conference. They compiled a multimedia video presentation at the end of the day's activities.

More than 150 rural leaders from across the state of Kansas attended the conference, which is a project of the Kansas Sampler Foundation, Inman.
