The Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art will house “Synergy,” works of graphic design from 26 Fort Hays State University Students, opening on Friday, Feb. 27. The gallery is on the first floor of Rarick Hall on the FHSU campus.
The public is invited to a reception from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, March 6, in the gallery. Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be provided, and student designers will be present to talk with the public about their artwork.
The art exhibition showcases works by students in the Professional Development in Graphic Design class. Each student has multiple pieces in the show, including poster design, print, packaging and multimedia.
The catalog produced by the students summarizes the exhibit: "We are the culmination of 26 minds, all striving toward the same goal. Each of us has our own unique way of designing, but the basic fundamentals of design are deeply rooted in each of our souls. We see the world differently and are always challenging the mainstreams of society. We have power in numbers and, as a whole, we are able to accomplish far more than we could ever do alone. We are a network of graphic designers who have not only influenced each other's design but also each other's lives, and we call ourselves 'the synergy.' "
The show closes Friday, March 13. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and during the March 6 evening reception.
