Works by Taylor and Schmierbach accepted into 2005 Fiber Focus Awards Show

Jayson Taylor and Amy Schmierbach, assistant professors of art at Fort Hays State University, were recently accepted into the 2005 Fiber Focus show in St. Louis, MO.

Taylor submitted a work titled "Meditation on the Kalachakra Mandala." It received the "Best of Show" award. This was Taylor's third appearance in Fiber Focus and his second Best of Show award.

Schmierbach's "Warm and Fuzzies in Color" was also accepted into the exhibit.

The biennial exhibit was open to contemporary fiber artists 21 years of age or older residing in nine Midwest states -- Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Tennessee.

This year, 119 artists submitted 314 works for the juror's consideration. Out of the 314 artworks, 45 works from 43 artists of various media were selected for exhibition.

Fiber Focus 2005 closes Oct. 28.
