Two visiting artists from the Women's Studio Workshop, Rosendale, NY, will lecture on artist residencies and artist books at Fort Hays State University on Oct. 11.
Ann Kalmach and Tana Keller begin their presentation at 10:30 a.m. in Rarick Hall, room 114. They will also display their collection of artist books in the Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art after lunch.
The visit is sponsored by FHSU's Department of Art and organized by Amy Schmierbach, assistant professor of art.
The Women's Studio Workshop is a non-profit organization that supports artist residencies in book arts, printmaking, ceramics, papermaking and photography. WSW has created an extensive outreach program for youth, an internship program for young women artists and grants for book production.
"It is an honor that these two women will be here," said Schmierbach, who was a WSW intern in 1996. Schmierbach's experience with the two presenters has allowed her to go back as a resident artist, receiving a grant to create an artist book in 1999.
Everyone on campus is welcome to attend.
