FHSU students attend beef stocker conference

Fort Hays State University's agriculture students attended a recent beef stocker conference in Manhattan.

"The students were able to learn the current topics and up-to-date information from leaders in the industry," said Dr. Brittany Howell, associate professor of agriculture.

Students were encouraged to attend the one-day conference as part of their feedlot management and beef techniques and technology courses.

The conference featured various talks about beef stocker cattle, centering on topics such as pre-conditioning, legal considerations, animal traceability and antibiotics.

Students who attended the conference were Craig Boggio, Red Lodge, MT, junior; Jake Betts, Dorrance junior; Melissa Codner, Shelton, NE, senior; Aden Glaze, Oberlin senior; Jared Heid, Harrisonville, MO, junior; Justin Herl, Hays senior; Elizabeth Hock, Culbertson, NE, senior; Levi Selfridge, Burdett senior, and J.C. Stroup, Benkelman, NE, senior.
