Holiday celebration to begin with annual tree lighting ceremony

Fort Hays State University will begin its holiday celebration with the annual tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, in front of Sheridan Hall. The public is invited to attend.

The celebration will include a holiday welcome by President Edward H. Hammond, hayrack rides and the Dickens Carolers, a group of volunteer students from university choirs led by Terry Crull, instructor of music. The winner of the annual coloring contest, in which area elementary schools and Tiger Tots participated, will be announced. Santa Claus and Victor E. Tiger will also make a special appearance.

Following the ceremony, hot chocolate and cookies, provided by Wendy's, and apple cider will be served in the Dreiling Lobby of Sheridan Hall.

The celebration is sponsored by the FHSU Greek Community and Wendy's restaurant.
