Beach/Schmidt to host a night of jazz

Music listeners are in for a treat with a jazzy evening this Friday, Nov. 7, at Fort Hays State University.

The FHSU Jazz Bands will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. in Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center in Sheridan Hall.

Directed by Brad Dawson, assistant professor of music, the Jazz Ensembles I and II will display their talent with a song list that includes "East Avenue Stroll," by Dean Sorenson, "The Nearness of You," by Al Copine, and "Sittin' Pretty" by Les Hooper.

As the evening continues, the audience will hear "Samba De Rollins," by Don Menza, "Follow the Leader" by Fred Strum, "Centerpiece," by Frank Mantooth, and "Wind Machine" by Sammy Nestico.

Tickets are $4 for children and seniors and $6 for adults. Admission is free for FHSU students with their TigerCard.
