Panhellenic Council sends cards of encouragement to Soldiers

Fort Hays State University's Panhellenic Council sent cards of encouragement to soldiers serving in Iraq on Sept. 11. About 50 cards were sent, made by the women going through sorority recruitment and members of Alpha Gamma Delta and Delta Zeta, the two sororities on campus.

The cards were the activity of the service night during recruitment. Part of being involved in a Greek organization on campus includes philanthropic activities and service.

A letter written by the council provided an explanation of the cards and some information about Fort Hays State University. The letter states that the theme of the night was "Pieces of Home" coinciding with the theme of recruitment this year, "Separately Unique, Together Complete."

The response of the women was positive. "The soldiers are over there fighting and protecting, doing the hard part. The easy part is making cards that let them know we are proud and thankful for what they are doing," said Stephanie Kramer, a member of Alpha Gamma Delta and Panhellenic Council.
