Elementary education program students conducting WaterLINK after school program

Fourteen students of Fort Hays State University's elementary education program are conducting an after school science program at a local elementary school. The students, mostly sophomores and juniors, are currently in a science and math methods course.

WaterLINK, which is also an internship opportunity, is for kindergarten through fifth grade students. It is an international outreach program promoting awareness in water protection at Kathryn O' Loughlin McCarthy Elementary. The five- week program began Oct. 1 and will end Nov. 5.

Data collected will be compared with schools from around the globe. The data will also lead to more knowledge in local water sources and the need to protect water.
