The Office of Student Affairs at Fort Hays State University has hired three members of the Department of Nursing faculty to work in the Student Health Center. Assistant professors Jenny Manry, MSN, ARNP-FNP, BC, Dorothy Ochs, MSN, ARNP-FNP, BC, and Anissa Sonntag, MSN, ARNP-FNP, BC, will join the Student Health Center staff in a weekly rotation to address student, faculty and staff needs.
The hiring of the nursing faculty will aid the Student Health Center staff as a whole in fulfilling their mission to provide high quality, compassionately delivered, cost-effective ambulatory care, practicum training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate nursing students, and health/wellness education for individual students and the university community. This partnership between the Department of Nursing and the Student Health Center also allows the three faculty members to conveniently meet their advanced practice requirements as they maintain their national credentials as family nurse practitioners.
Ochs has been a family nurse practitioner since 1999 and joined the faculty at FHSU in 2000. She is the coordinator of the advanced nursing practice track in the Master of Science in Nursing program at FHSU. Manry has been a family nurse practitioner since 2002 and joined the FHSU faculty in 2006. Sonntag has been a family nurse practitioner since 1995 and joined FHSU as a faculty member in 2006.
The three members of the nursing faculty join office assistant Anne Basgall, Dr. Dallas Richards and nurses Mary Rohlf, Pat Moeder, Lotti Porsi and Doreen Koerner on the Student Health Center staff.
