Fort Hays State University’s Kansas Small Business Development Center will offer two Small Business Tax and Contractor's workshops in Colby, Hays and Great Bend in September. One will cover taxes on small businesses and the other is a workshop for contractors.
Small Business Tax will be offered in Colby from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 23, at the Thomas County Office Complex, 350 S. Range; Hays from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at Gross Memorial Coliseum, room 123, on the FHSU campus; and Great Bend from 1 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, at 1 Stop Career Center, 1025 Main.
The Taxpayer Education Unit of the Kansas Deptartment of Revenue will present at the Small Business Tax presentation and will cover subjects concerning Kansas Retailers' Sales Tax, Kansas Retailers' Compensating Use Tax, Kansas Consumers' Compensating Use Tax, goods and services subject to sales tax, record keeping, purchases with exemption certificates, income tax withholding requirements, tax responsibilities, filing requirements and form preparation.
The workshops are jointly sponsored by FHSU KSBDC and the Kansas Department of Revenue.
Registration for the Small Business Tax workshops is $45. An early registration fee of $35 is available for payments received by Sept. 16.
The Contractor Tax Workshop helps to clarify important topics for those in the construction, installation or similar businesses.
