Astronomy Club to make presentation about Jupiter

The public is invited to join the Fort Hays State University Astronomy Club as they show off Jupiter and its Galilean moons at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in Tomanek Hall, room 106.

The evening begins with a presentation about Jupiter and a short talk about Sputnik, the first Russian satellite, since the day is will be the 50th Anniversary of the launch of Sputnik. After the presentation is over the group will move to the Tomanek observation deck.

The Tomanek observation deck is open to the public from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday.

The Astronomy Club will have other presentations throughout the year, including a presentation on how to find constellations and a demonstration of star hopping. For those looking to buy a telescope, the club can show what to look for and how to use it.
