Hays City Band begins free concert series on June 10

The Hays City Band begins its concert series at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, on the Fort Hays State University Quad.

The band, comprised of community members and FHSU faculty and students, spanning the range from middle school to college age, will perform additional concerts throughout the summer in Ellis, WaKeeney and at Historic Fort Hays.

Dr. Jeff Jordan, director of bands at FHSU, will conduct Tuesday’s program, which will feature soloist Brad Dawson, professor of trumpet and jazz studies, in "The Carnival of Venice."

Admission is free and the public is "heartily welcomed," said Jordan.

A variety of classical selections, American music, patriotic features, film music and Broadway tunes will round out the concert.
