FHSU Homecoming court chosen

Students at Fort Hays State University have chosen 10 of their peers to comprise the 2005 Homecoming royalty court.

King candidates:

Michael Blumhorst, Paola junior. Sponsored by Christian Challenge, Blumhorst is involved in Christian Challenge and National Society of Collegiate Scholars and is on the Deans Honor Roll.

Chris McKenna, Jennings senior. Sponsored by University Activities Board, McKenna is involved in UAB, Student Alumni Association, SPURS, TigerWild and Marketing and Management Club, is on the Deans Honor Roll and is assistant director of McMindes Hall.

Josh McMahan, Clay Center senior. Sponsored by TigerWild, McMahan is involved in TigerWild, American Society of Interior Designers and Alpha Lambda Delta, serves as UAB president and is on the Deans Honor Roll.

Matt Prieksat, Grand Island, NE, senior. Sponsored by Wiest Hall Council, Prieksat is involved in Student Athlete Advisory Council and National Society of Collegiate Scholars, plays baseball, is on the Deans Honor Roll and is a resident assistant in Wiest Hall.

Nathan Staab, Hays senior. Sponsored by Block and Bridle, Staab is involved in Delta Tau Alpha and is president of Block and Bridle.

Queen candidates:

Laci Dearden, Leoti senior. Sponsored by Anderson VIP Student Ambassadors, Dearden is involved in National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Student Alumni Association, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Anderson VIP Student Ambassadors and Mortar Board and is on the Deans Honor Roll.

Amy Jensen, Hastings, NE, senior. Sponsored by TigerWild, Jensen is involved in TigerWild, McMindes Hall Council, French Club, Omicron Delta Kappa, Communication Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters, serves on the Encore Series Special Events Committee and is on the Deans Honor Roll.

Sarah Melia, Rozel senior. Sponsored by University Activities Board, Melia is involved in TigerWild, serves on the Encore Series Special Events Committee and is UAB secretary.

Allyson Plattner, Sabetha junior. Sponsored by Wiest Hall Council, Plattner is involved in TigerWild, Mat Cats, Communication Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Wiest Hall Council and Residence Hall Association, serves on the Encore Series Special Events Committee and is a resident manager of Wiest Hall.

Heather Teater, Shawnee sophomore. Sponsored by Christian Challenge, Teater is involved in Christian Challenge, plays softball and is on the Deans Honor Roll.

Final voting to select the 2005 Homecoming king and queen will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29 in the Memorial Union. Coronation will be during halftime of the FHSU vs. Colorado School of Mines football game on Saturday, Oct. 1. The game begins at 2 p.m. in Lewis Field Stadium.
