Students of the Western Kansas String Academy and the Hays Public Library will team up to present a special pajama story hour concert for the pre-school and early elementary school crowd at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the library's Downstairs Gallery.
The 45-minute presentation includes short performances by pajama-clad musicians, storytelling with musical illustrations and hands-on experimenting on instruments for the audience.
The evening features two music picture books.
"Honey Bee’s Song," by Cynthia Swiss, tells the gentle story of a young violinist who is inspired to compose a special song when she becomes friends with a honey bee. WKSA student violinist Meredith Rigmaiden will perform with the story.
"Zin, Zin, Zin! A Violin," by Lloyd Moss, is an energetic rhyme introducing 10 different instruments page by page, from trombone to harp. When all the performers take the stage, a brief concert ensues. A host of FHSU students and community performers will demonstrate their instruments in this fun musical tale.
Children of all ages are welcome to attend, in their PJs, for this special event which exposes youth to string music in a light hearted setting.
