Not-for-profit organizations looking for easy and affordable ways to improve their public relations campaigns need look no further than the Fort Hays State University campus.
TigerComm, FHSU's student-run advertising, marketing and public relations organization, is sponsoring "Winning the PR Game: Public Relations Tactics for NPOs." The workshop will help NPOs learn some basic techniques for developing an effective campaign.
"We know that not-for-profit organizations usually don't realize they have access to resources to create great campaigns, even on the local level," said Natalie Blair, TigerComm president. "So our workshop will focus on how to design effective campaigns using resources that are really affordable. Some of them are even free. We’ll also focus on the writing aspect of a campaign, like what information should go into collateral materials, news releases and Web sites."
The workshop is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 1, with registration starting at 8 a.m. and sessions running from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union’s Stouffer Lounge on the FHSU campus.
The registration fee is $45 per attendee. Early registration deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 23. Interested parties can continue to register until the day of the event at a cost of $55 per attendee. Those wishing to register can send the organization’s phone number, physical address and e-mail address and the names of all those attending, along with a check, to TigerComm c/o Communication Studies Department, Fort Hays State University, 600 Park St., Hays, KS 67601.
Arrangements for on-site payment and questions can be directed to Blair by e-mail at email@example.com or by phone at (785) 672-7054.
