Students present at National Science Teacher Association regional meeting

Three Fort Hays State University students made presentations at the recent National Science Teacher Association regional meeting in Denver, Colo.

Jessie Deines, Frankfort senior, Sarah Fast, Salina senior, and Eryn Norton, Hays senior, members of NSTA, presented on the Annual Christmas Science show that the FHSU NSTA student chapter organizes each year. The presentation was based on the books, "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "A Creature was Stirring."

The event was sponsored by Dr. Paul Adams, FHSU's Anschutz Professor of Education, and the FHSU Science and Mathematics Education Center.

"The work they did was part of their community outreach," said Adams. "They thought they would share it at a national conference."

The students used Christmas stories to present science through literature.

"There were around 8,000 people at the conference," said Adams. "Science teachers from all of the western states participate. Their presentation was well received."
