Fort Hays State University's Linda Ganstrom, professor of art, was invited to exhibit three works in "Fired Forms: Figures, Objects and Abstracts," a national clay artist invitational exhibition at Collin County Community College in Dallas, Texas.
Her art will be on display through Nov. 17. It includes a large installation with two full figures and 10 fragments called "Cinderella's Shopping Spree." This piece, she said, raises questions about beauty and materialistic cultures. Also on display are two life-size figures, "Quan Yin: Protectress of Children" and "Poetic Offering."
Ganstrom also recently attended the National Council on the Education for the Ceramic Arts board meeting in Phoenix, Ariz. The planning session included touring the art scene in Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix. Ganstrom also met with museum directors and gallery owners to establish the exhibition program for the 2009 conference.
Ganstrom also auctioned one of her sculptures, "Seed Sisters Backup III," at the Kansas City Entrepreneur of the Year event in October.
