Fort Hays State University's Geosciences Department will host Geographic Information System Day 2007 on Wednesday, Nov. 14, beginning at 1:30. GIS Day is an international event designed to share the various ways that GIS and related geographic technologies both impact and benefit society.

The department will provide two workshops about GIS. The first is "Geographic Information System" from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in Tomanek Hall, room 125. This workshop will provide a general overview of GIS and its basic operations. The second workshop, "Global Positional Systems," is from 2:30 to 4 p.m., also in Tomanek 125. This workshop will provide an understanding of how a GPS operates.
