Fort Hays State University's Alumni Association has announced the hiring of Jade Landon as the governmental relations intern for the 2007-2008 academic year.
Landon, Deerfield junior, is majoring in political science with an emphasis in international relations. She is president of the Panhellenic Council, treasurer of the Delta Omega chapter of Delta Zeta sorority, secretary of Model United Nations and a member of Order of Omega and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
"It has been interesting to see the process of building legislative support for the university," said Landon. "Legislation at the state level is a whole different aspect of politics for me to see."
As an intern, Landon will work closely with the alumni office staff to help implement and maintain an effective legislative support network. Her responsibilities include coordinating educational workshops, facilitating meetings with legislators, engaging in legislative research, attending legislative meetings and events, and tracking important legislation that could impact higher education in Kansas, especially that related to FHSU.
The Alumni Association was established in 1916 and is dedicated to identifying and serving the needs of more than 41,000 graduates living throughout the United States and 64 foreign countries.
