The seventh annual Harris Golf Tournament and Barbeque, sponsored by the Fort Hays State University Alumni Association, will be Sunday, Aug. 19 at the Liberal Country Club.
The tournament and barbeque are dedicated to raising scholarship funding for FHSU students from southwest Kansas. Tournament prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each category, for the longest drive on the fairway and for the closest shot to the hole. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Tee time is 9 a.m.
A barbeque after the tournament will include FHSU news from Debra Prideaux, executive director of alumni and governmental relations, Tim Chapman, president and CEO, and Brad Botz, director of planned giving of the FHSU Foundation. Special guests will also include Dr. Norvan Harris, a 1942 FHSU graduate who received the Alumni Achievement Award in 1992 for his outstanding and unselfish contributions in service to his community, state and nation. It is the university’s highest recognition of its graduates.
The tournament registration fee is $70 and includes greens fees, shared cart, barbeque lunch and special prize giveaways. Registration for the barbeque is $12.50.
Registrations can be mailed, faxed or called into the FHSU Alumni Association by Tuesday, Aug. 14.
