Fort Hays State University will host an opening reception for the "Jenny Venn MFA Thesis Exhibition" at the Moss-Thorns Gallery of Art on Friday, June 15, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Venn, Derby, graduate student, earned her bachelor of fine arts from FHSU in 2004 where she continued to refine her skills in graphic design as a graduate teaching assistant. She received her master of fine arts in May 2007 and plans to pursue a career as an assistant professor of graphic design at the University of Wyoming.
The show is titled "In View Of (a new pair of eyes)" and it will include mainly graphic design pieces, conceptual book design and sculpture pieces.
"Graphic design is about many different things, and perhaps, this new way of seeing the world will lead to opportunity," said Venn. "Every designer finds inspiration from the world around them; I take my surroundings to integrate those concepts, ideas and objects into my designs so that they can be interpreted into a tangible message."
The exhibition will run from June 15 to June 19 and can be seen during the gallery's summer hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
